‘IF A STORY IS IN YOU, IT HAS GOT TO COME OUT’ – William Faulkner
Chasing Driftwood Writing Group was set up by Christchurch author Chantelle Atkins in May 2015. The aim of the group is to deliver workshops, events and clubs to those who are passionate about writing. Chasing Driftwood runs creative writing workshops for children aged 7-16 years in the school holidays. These workshops are ideal for budding young writers, and cover a wide variety of topics, such as short stories, screenwriting, FanFiction, poetry, journals, flash fiction and more… The adult writing group aims to encourage local writers to get writing and keep writing. Within a warm and friendly atmosphere, members are encouraged to share and offer feedback on work, and can request information and sessions on any subjects from conquering social media, to which publishing route is best for them. There is a real emphasis on progress!
In December 2017 Chasing Driftwood became a Community Interest Company. The aims of the group have not changed, but now we are able to access grants to enable us to fund our writing projects!
