News update April 2020
April 23-July 31
We have now delivered more than 600 visors and 400 ear protectors. The work continues, and so do the offers of support.
This week, we were able to raise money thanks to Florence Battle, CADArts and East Dorset Bowls Club to cover the cost of an additional printer. We are now delivering 50-60 visors every day, 7 days a week. The Christchurch Round Table guys pulled together a rota to do the daily deliveries for us, which takes a lot of pressure off me and Tom. The support we are continuing to receive from different individuals, all contributing in different ways, is just incredible and we are grateful.
When we started printing we had thought we might plug a gap for a couple of weeks. This weekend is the beginning of our 5th week and the requests are not showing any signs of slowing down at the
This week we delivered our 500th visor to Moody’s Funeral Directors. It seems fitting to mention them today because they organised the recent funeral for a local lady called Betty Mumford. Betty was the President of Greystones House in Highcliffe and much loved and respected in the local community.
Deliveries continue to Bournemouth, Southampton and Lymington hospitals each week, as well as local care homes and funeral directors. Lymington hospital were in touch this week to say thank you and to say that the visors are a big help. They are being used each day in the hospital and across the Trust.
Nicki is a nurse at Bournemouth Accident and Emergency who took visors in to work for her colleagues. She wanted to make sure you all know how grateful they are for this local support. She said “thank you to all the people who are helping with PPE. I went home yesterday with no sore spots from elastic on masks.” Nicki sent us the picture of her colleagues below.
The local groups who are wholeheartedly supporting this work so far are listed here, so you can see this tremendous army of kindness and generosity. It is a heart warmer.
Thank you all for your help.
