Wimborne Art Club offers great opportunities for our members to learn, develop and enjoy all aspects of painting. We have two exhibitions every year, thus creating opportunities to display original artwork.
There is a varied programme throughout the year including demonstrations by established artists and workshops. We meet on two Thursday evenings every month and would warmly welcome new members to become part of our friendly and enthusiastic group.
Our meetings are a mixture of demonstrations, slide talks, workshops and critiques. A wide range of subjects and media are covered expanding our knowledge in all forms of art. We also have a Portraiture Group which meets on the alternate weeks.
The Club is a group of 65 local artists who meet twice a month in St Catherine’s Church Hall, Wimborne.

We also have a Portraiture Group which meets on the alternate weeks. The size of this group is limited so that everyone has a clear view of the sitter.
Wimborne Art Club was formed in 1975 when about half a dozen painters started weekly meetings at the Allendale Centre. By the first AGM in May 1976 membership had risen to 14 and the Club was then called the Allendale Art Club. Some of these founder members are still members today.
In 1977, now renamed ‘Wimborne Art Club’ and with 21 members, the Club transferred to the Red Cross Centre in School Lane. in 1978 the first Summer Exhibition was held in Church House. Originally a weekly club, in 1978 the meetings became fortnightly.
We now meet in St Catherine’s Church Hall in Wimborne.
The Summer Exhibition is still an annual event for the club along with an Art and Craft Exhibition held in November.
